Dear readers.
It is our pleasure to welcome you to E4E.
First of all, please kindly let us introduce ourselves. We are a group of scientists and engineers of different nationalities. Each of us has had years of experience researching, studying and working in multiple countries before starting this platform.

Despite having different backgrounds, we have something in common – we all have lived in Japan. Needless to say, the time in Japan was indeed a turning point. We were fortunate to have been exposed to so many different environments of science and engineering. We have worked in state-of-the-art laboratories and massive chemical plants. We have met brilliant scientists and engineers. We have attended many different international conferences. The more experience we gained, the more we learnt.
Then, at one point, something struck all of us. Despite the fact that Japan’s technology is one of the best in the world, something could still be improved to promote Japan’s scientific level to an even higher position in the global stage – and that was English speaking proficiency. We realised that compared with people from social sciences, people from natural sciences had a slightly lower level of English speaking fluency. However, they have a precious advantage of a logical mindset.
This logical thinking process, which is a unique characteristic of scientists and engineers, makes it so much easier for them to structure a paragraph. The main problem then, is that they struggle to express these points verbally. From our observation, this issue could be accounted for by 2 main reasons:
1. The work environment of scientists and engineers (e.g laboratories or plants) lacks the opportunity for practicing spoken English.
2. The English vocabulary at most Eikaiwa schools is hardly enough for scientific and engineering topics. (We also think that it is relatively rare for an Eikaiwa teacher to have an engineering background).
This is when we decided to establish E4E as an online educational platform to help fellow scientists and engineers in Japan.
As all of us are also scientists and engineers who have experience adapting to new cultures and environments, we strongly believe that we could deliver English education in a unique way that you have never tried before.
